What will never be seen again

A shower room is settled in what disappears: the tanking, the moisture-resistant lining, the falls. The tiling only finishes the job. That is why we also photograph the stages the client will never see again — they are the ones that decide whether the shower lasts ten years or two.

Opening a load-bearing wall

Opening a load-bearing wall is not improvised: shoring, taking up the load, sizing the beam. On this villa, opening a whole corner gave the living room back to its garden — and the dressed stone surrounds make the new work read as old.

True chevron, not an approximation

Solid oak, mitred cuts, points aligned on the centre line of the room. In this Haussmann apartment in Nice, the marble fireplace, the mouldings and the original ceiling rose were kept: the new parquet had to settle in as though it had always been there.
